Glue Hardwood Floors Over Asphalt

The adhesive is spread on an area of the subfloor where the boards are going to be adhered to using a specialized trowel. As a petroleum based material the cutback is not softened by water.

All soft loose and raised residue must be removed before encapsulation begins. Using other water resin based adhesives the wood is placed into the wet adhesive. Adhesive could be covered with a cementious patch or self leveler and then use either a resin base or urethane adhesive. Once you have decided to use the glue down floor method make sure that you leave a large enough expansion gap depending on the hardwood product you chose from the wall to allow the wood to contract and expand.

All you need to do is create a clean smooth surface to which the paint can adhere. Can adhesives and moisture barriers be used over old black cutback asphalt based adhesive. Removing the glue completely using an adhesive remover would be the best way to proceed but if removal isn t possible you can still paint a concrete surface covered in glue. Prior to the installation of floor covering systems triseal will also seal floors in dusty conditions providing a clean.

Dritac eco dribloc can be applied over carpet adhesive residue and asphalt cutback adhesive residue as long as the adhesive ridges and raised residue have been completely removed from the subfloor with only minor stains remaining. If removing the tile is not an option it should be sealed in with another material that can prevent dust from the old adhesive from making its way into the air.
